The why

Every year, Australians spend tens of thousands of dollars on international tennis and golf holidays. Tennis camps in Spain. Golf packages in Hawaii. Organised, hosted, done properly for the discerning player-traveller.

Pickleball is now the fastest-growing sport in the world — and nothing equivalent has existed for Australian pickleball players who want to travel and play well. So we're building it.

Malaysia is our second destination after Pickleball Vietnam. Over time, we'll build out a curated network of Asian pickleball trips — each one chosen because the pickleball scene is legitimately world-class, the country itself is extraordinary, and the combination is something most Australian players haven't yet discovered.

How we run trips

• Small groups. 16–24 travellers, never more. You'll know everyone by the second day.
• Daily play. Morning pickleball sessions at the best venues in each city. Optional afternoon sessions for the committed.
• Australian host. A dedicated host travels with the group from start to finish.
• Local partners. On-ground guides, local coaches, and trusted hotel and transport operators — people who know their city and their sport.
• Proper accommodation. 4-star or better hotels, centrally located, comfortable for a group of adults.
• Real country, not just courts. Every trip is built around authentic cultural experiences, not a generic pickleball-camp-plus-token-sightseeing format.

Who's behind this

David Lurie — founder

Melbourne-based entrepreneur with a background in sports, fitness and digital. Builder of businesses across the fitness and pickleball industries (F45 franchise operator; founder of the Pickleball HQ ecosystem covering Australian pickleball news, court directories, tournaments, coaching, and the HUSTL performance brand). Passionate pickleball player, regular international traveller, deeply invested in growing the sport in Australia and beyond.

Why trust us with your trip

Fair question. A few honest answers:

• We've run and built businesses for years — in sports, travel-adjacent industries, and media. This isn't our first operation.
• We've personally played across Malaysia's major facilities. We'll never recommend a venue we haven't visited ourselves.
• We're keeping group sizes small on purpose. We'd rather run two 16-person trips a year than one 60-person trip — because the experience is fundamentally different.
• We have no interest in running a high-volume tour operation. We want to build something Australian pickleball players recommend to their friends.

The bigger picture

Pickleball Malaysia is one part of a broader vision. Our sister brand Pickleball Vietnam runs the same format through Ho Chi Minh City, Hoi An and Hanoi — with the first departure in 2026. Over time we'll add more destinations as the Asian pickleball scene continues to mature.
